A simple process from start to finish

12 steps to success.

Our 12 steps to success

Follow our 12 steps to success to learn how we support our clients throughout the packaging journey.

Size

First, you select the size of the box. If you’re unsure, once we’ve received a sample of your product we will recommend a size.

Material

Secondly, you pick the material for your box. If you’re unsure, we will recommend the material based on your product, budget & requirement.

Quantity

Next, you will decide on the order quantity. Note, the higher the order quantity the cheaper the overall cost.

Process

Once the previous stages are complete, we will outline the next steps and provide an estimated schedule.

Style

Now, choose your preferred style of box. This will vary dependant on your product. Our team can help advise on the most suitable box style.

Pricing

The pricing is influenced by the previous stages and is calculated on an individual basis. A Higher-order quantity will decrease the cost per unit.

Cutting Forme

The cutting forme is specially designed to suit your product and sits on the machine and is needed for the cut-out of your boxes.

Designing

Now we will integrate your artwork onto the cutting guide. If you don’t have a design worry not, our team is happy to help.

Digital Print

Once satisfied with the design stage, we will print a full-size digital sheet to showcase the fitment of your artwork on the box.

Manufacture

The next stage is manufacturing a plain sample box to ensure your product fits. After this we will manufacture a fully printed sample box for final approval – next is mass production.

Deliver

It’s delivery time! We will carefully pack your boxes ready to be transported to your chosen delivery address.

Happy Customer

Finally, our favorite part – a very happy customer. We like to keep in touch to ensure you’re happy with your boxes.

Stage 1

Consultation

01

The first step to becoming a Prest Group client is a consultation with a member of our team. This will take place either virtually or in person. The aim of the consultation is to gain a strong understanding of your company and brand, its target audience, and your vision for the product for which you seek packaging.

Creating unique packaging has never been so important. Designing a box that complements your brand and enhances your product’s aesthetic is a significant priority for businesses operating in competitive markets. Packaging has become much more than a box to protect your product; it’s an opportunity to add value and drive sales. To help, we can show you examples of our previous works to showcase various options available to you and provide some inspiration for your own designs.

Following your initial consultation, we require a sample of your product. This is so we accurately measure the dimensions appropriate to package your product. A sample plays a key role in designing a box that not only fits your product but keeps secure in transit. There are many options when it comes to size. Some clients prefer a large box with a die-cut insert to keep the products in place, whereas others prefer smaller, compact packaging solutions. Rest assured that a member of our team will discuss every option available to you, leaving no stone unturned.

Stage 2

Material

02

At this stage we’ll decide what material would best suit your product. For fragile products, we recommend using B-flute corrugated board which offers the most protection. If you’re seeking a more cost-friendly solution, you may decide to use a craft card. Choosing the right material is an indispensable factor in creating your perfect box. We will show you a sample of the different board options available to aid your decision.

Stage 3

Style of box

03

Next, you’ll select the style of packaging. Here, you’ll consider what is practical and how it’ll enrich your product. Certain industries favor a particular style of box. For example, most liquor clients prefer tuck inside boxes, 0427 boxes, and lid-style boxes. Although clients may choose the same style box, our high-quality printing makes for endless possibilities. Each client collaborates to create their own unique design.

Stage 4

Order quantity

04

This stage is where you’ll decide on the order’s quantity. This can be tricky but the good news is the more you order, the cheaper the packaging will be. This is because there’s a significant price reduction for board the larger the order quantity is. Pricing is influenced by various factors, such as: type of board used, style of box, labor time, number of colored prints, one-sided or two-sided print, and the cost of a forme. Additional factors, such as foiled or embossed elements used on logos or text, spot UV printing, and higher-end materials, will increase the cost. However, these features are available for good reason; they harbor huge benefits and help to create a premium aesthetic.

Stage 5

Cutting forme drawing

05

Next, we use software to draw up a cutting forme that has the exact dimensions needed for the cut-out of your box. Then we create a plain white sample of your box to check your product fits comfortably inside. Once we have your approval, the cutting forme must be made. This requires a one off payment. Once made, this forme will be used for any future orders. A cutting forme is a large wooden board made up with sharp steel and foam that sits on our machines. It is used to cut the board and is responsible for manufacturing your box to the exact dimensions you require.

Stage 6

Designing the print

06

Once you are happy with the fit and feel of your box, we will focus on the print. Here, we can incorporate creative artwork, images, logos and text that will be printed onto the box. Designs can be difficult and time-consuming. To aid this process, we have an in-house design team that will work closely with you to help design your box from start to finish. This service is available for a reasonable fee. Alternatively, if vectors and artwork have already been established, we will drop the print into the cutting form using illustrator at no extra cost.

Stage 7

Digital print to show where the print will be on the box

07

When the print has been approved, we will print off a digital sample. This is a large piece of the printed paper that includes all of your prints. This will be an actual-size replica that’ll showcase the box style cut-out for accurate representation. The digital sample is a fantastic way of demonstrating how everything will look once completed. You’ll have the opportunity to make any final amendments and can use reprints until you’re fully satisfied.

Stage 8

Happy customer

08

The next stage is the gaining approval for the final box design. This stage involves reviewing decisions that were made during the previous stages and ensuring the client is happy with the size, materials, design, features, digital sample and order quantity. Once these details have been confirmed, the box will be finalised.

Stage 9

Manufacturing your boxes

09

Now the boxes will begin to be manufactured. The process begins with the sheets of corrugated board or craft card being cut to the correct size. Any litho laminated print will get underway on another machine, producing high-end prints onto paper sheets. Following this, both of the aforementioned sheets will be glued together by a third machine.

Once the sheets are fused together, the wooden forme that includes the accurate dimensions for the cut out of your box will be applied. For large orders, a BOBST machine will be used. For smaller orders, the hand-fed machine is used to cut the boxes.
